Goodbye READING GLASSES: New Vision Correction for Baby Boomers

    Glenn H. Strauss, M.D.
    Heaton Eye Associates
    Tyler & Longview, TX

If youíre over 40, you have most likely noticed changes in your vision. Many people who never wore glasses before now are suddenly forced to wear glasses to do things like drive at night, work on a computer or read a book. It is a frustrating sign of aging. Fortunately, you are not alone. Over 60 million Americans suffer from farsightedness (clinically called "hyperopia"). Being farsighted means you can see things better at a distance, then close up.

Until now, laser procedures have been your only option to reduce your dependence on glasses. However, many of us are hesitant when it comes to our vision. Now there is a revolutionary vision correction option available to those of us over 40 that is safe, simple, fast and economical. It is called Conductive Keratoplasty, or CK. It has the approval of the FDA and it is the next big advancement in better vision for those over 40.

    How CK Works
CK is an exciting option for patients with farsightedness. It is a new procedure that uses radio frequency energy instead of a laser. Radio frequency- just like the same signal you listen to from your favorite radio station. CK uses pinpoint accurate pulses of radio frequency energy to reshape and steepen corneal tissue resulting in improved vision, especially for reading. Radio frequency is one of todayís most advanced surgical technologies. It is routinely used in other procedures such as prostrate cancer therapy, back surgery and cardiovascular procedures.

    Simple, Three-Minute Procedure
Because CK does not involve cutting or lasers, the procedure can be conveniently performed in the office using only an eye drop anesthesia. The procedure takes about three minutes to perform, and the result is an immediate improvement in your vision and in most cases you can return to your normal schedule the next day.

Among The Best in the Nation
Heaton Eye Associates is pleased to be the "first" ophthalmology practice in Texas and one of just a handful in the U.S. chosen to perform this procedure. Our reputation for being a leader in vision correction procedures along with our genuine concern for our patientís safety and satisfaction have made this honor possible for us. For more information on how CK can help restore your vision and improve your quality of life, call Heaton Eye Associates at 800-762-5787.
